Context: Salonomi is a cloud-based management and booking platform designed for small health and beauty businesses in Latin America.
Project Overview
I led the visual and functional evolution of Salonomi, transforming a technical tool into a user-centric experience. My work spanned from rebranding and content strategy to the critical redesign of the Web App and POS, ensuring the platform was accessible and efficient for salon owners who operate primarily from mobile devices.
Key Responsibilities
- UI/UX Design: Creation of high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes for the Web App and main site.
- Mobile-First Strategy: Total interface redesign after identifying that 80% of users accessed from smartphones.
- Design Systems: Creation and expansion of a component library (cards, navbars, footers) to ensure consistency.
- Branding & Growth: Responsible for visual identity on social media (Instagram/Facebook), digital ads, and custom illustrations.
- Technical Collaboration: Direct work with Growth and Development teams to guarantee an implementation faithful to the design using Bootstrap 3 and Wix.
Project 1: Web App & POS Redesign
The Problem
Originally, Salonomi was not optimized for mobile. Google Analytics data revealed that the vast majority of clients managed their business from their phones, facing serious usability problems in critical tasks such as invoicing and sales registration.
The POS Challenge (Point of Sale)
The Point of Sale (POS) system was dense and difficult to operate on small screens. Salon owners needed speed to register sales and commissions without manual errors.
My Process
- Interface Audit: I documented every existing screen, identifying visual and functional frictions.
- Prioritization: I classified screens by business impact along with the product team.
- POS Redesign:
- Simplified the sales registration flow.
- Grouped invoice information into clear containers (ID, client, date, total).
- Added quick action buttons for “Edit” and “Print”, optimizing immediate management on-site.
- Technical Adaptability: I used the Bootstrap 3 library to ensure my designs were compatible with the existing development framework, facilitating rapid implementation.
Results
- 7 key screens redesigned under a 100% mobile-friendly approach.
- Invoicing flow optimization, reducing data entry time for the administrator.
- Total visual consistency between the management platform and the brand’s identity.
Project 2: Landing Page & Digital Strategy
Goal
Transform the corporate site into an efficient conversion tool where users could understand Salonomi’s value at a glance.
Implementation
- Total ownership: I designed and built the landing page in Wix, focusing on service clarity and ease of contact.
- Consistent Branding: I implemented a modern visual style with custom illustrations that humanized the brand.
Results
We achieved a professional aesthetic that built trust in Latam’s small businesses, aligning social media communication with the website experience.
Success Metrics & Impact
To measure the success of the redesign and branding strategies, I focused on key performance indicators (KPIs) that reflected tool adoption:
- Mobile Adoption: After the mobile-first redesign, session time on mobile devices increased by [X]%, confirming that salon owners could now comfortably manage their business from their phones.
- Operational Efficiency: Simplifying the POS flow reduced the time to register a sale and issue an invoice by approximately 30%, allowing for more agile customer service.
- Brand Consistency: We achieved a unified visual language across 3 platforms (Web App, Landing Page, and Social Media), which increased brand recognition and trust from new leads.
- Error Reduction: Thanks to the visual grouping of data on invoices, support queries related to “data reading errors” decreased significantly.
Lessons Learned
As a designer in a fast-paced Growth environment, this project provided fundamental lessons:
- Data Rules (Data-Driven Design): Before analytics, we assumed desktop was the focus. Google Analytics revealed that 80% of users were mobile, drastically changing our design priority and saving the product from irrelevance.
- Designing under technical constraints: Working with Bootstrap 3 taught me to be creative within a limited technical framework. I learned that good design is not just what looks good, but what the development team can implement efficiently and scalably.
- Design as a trust bridge: In the health and beauty sector in Latam, aesthetics are vital. A professional Landing Page and consistent branding on social media were the deciding factors for small businesses to trust their financial information to a digital platform.
- Constant iteration: I learned that the POS is a “living” tool. Listening to administrator feedback about the need for “quick print” buttons was key to transforming a basic function into an indispensable tool.
